Knife Skills to Life Skills: How Kitchens for Good Ensures Apprentices are Ready for the Working World (January 2019)

As apprenticeship expands into emerging sectors, employers new to apprenticeship are looking for candidates who have the technical skill, but also are a “fit” for the position. Operating in the competitive culinary scene of San Diego, Kitchens for Good (KfG) has developed and incorporated a successful soft skills component to their program, which has helped make a compelling partnership with area employers. KfG’s soft skills curriculum architect, Katrina Meredith, joined us to discuss the development and delivery of this critical component to apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship training.
