California has the most extensive apprenticeship system in the country, with many programs connected directly to California Community Colleges. The state's goal, as stated in the 2016-2020 California State Workforce Plan, is to double the number of apprenticeships by 2026 from 64,000 to 128,000. Through funding from organizations such as the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office and the Irvine Foundation, we want to continue leveraging funding to expand apprenticeship and collaborate with our California Community Colleges, local education, and state agencies to be thought partners in bringing apprenticeship to scale throughout the state.
